The Eternities in Light

Overview

The Eternities in Light are a mostly mythical and barely recorded. They span the rebirth of Humanity – the development from primitive mountain tribes that set out to form societies, explore the world and cultivate the lands. As the ice sheets recede the landscapes change quickly. Fertile lands emerge and the population of mankind begins to spread rapidly. Bathing in the light of the nova, gifted people learn to explore the wonders of magic.

During the HEL, The ice sheets have mostly vanished, rising water levels pressure coastal settlements. The first great nation of Keng Ang Ved forms itself just as its lands begin to sink into the ocean. A desperate battle Keng Ang Ved loses over the course of the centuries. By the end of the HEL, Most parts of Kamolin are explored and claimed. Most Tribes consolidate into nations or get absorbed. Ideas of nationalism form and lead to increasingly severe conflicts.

During the long lasting Late Eternity of Magic*: Concepts of nationhood begin to manifest, as technologies ripen in everlasting battles for dominance, the countries of Kamolin begin warring, swallowing up the weak to form ever bigger kingdoms, which in turn fall apart, unable to manage the expanse and cultural diversity of their lands. A state close to equilibrium is reached at the end of LEL with national borders and ethnic divisions close to what we would see roughly 1500 cycles later in the Eternities of Magic.
* The Late Eternity of Magic was about the same duration as all three Eternities of Stone Mason combined.

Scholars attribute the cycle zero in the numerical calendar to EEL1, however nobody knows if it was really ushered in by a spectral and more than lightly human tribes have ventured to the surface hundreds if not thousands of cycles earlier. Remaining traces, records, and memories of the Eternities in Light are scarce, become however somewhat clearer towards the end of LEL as Waesima emergence, together with a culture of record keeping.
